Joel Joel Turner & Inigo Turner with Swinton High School Salford
Joel Turner's style is difficult to describe, and best experienced. His black and white drawings evolve organically and are comprised of stylised and abstract images, words and messages hidden within complex patterns, waiting to be discovered by the observer. His work is personal and expressive, and influenced by graphic design, op art, tribal arts from Central and South America, and day to day life: encounters with friends, strangers, nature and music. Having no formal art training, Joel's talents have developed naturally over many years. His previous work has been strongly linked to his involvement in music industry promotions and youth culture. Inigo Turner, a fine artist by trade, has assisted his brother with creation of the Cow-moonity Consultation Cow. Since completing a BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 2002, he has had a wide variety of exhibitions and private commissions. Working with marker pens on fibreglass has been quite a departure from both his own abstract style of painting, and his preferred medium of oil on canvas. Inigo's work is usually inspired by the space, shapes, colour and architecture of the urban environment, particularly buildings commonly perceived to be dated and unattractive.
