- Julie Hamer
Julie was born in Knutsford Cheshire in 1960. She studied art on a foundation course at Hartford School of Art and Design at Northwich in 1981-82. At the end of the course, she was certain she wanted to pursue Fine Art, but due to family commitments, she achieved her ambition late to create paintings and prints via a degree course and she graduated at Manchester Metropolitan University in 1997. At the moment, Julie's work is usually inspired by landscape. Her concern is for abstract art. She attempts to sum up the feelings of a place she has seen and in which she has been inspired and expresses her feelings through colour and form in an attempt to achieve beauty rather than literal representation of objects. Klimt, Bonnard and Howard Hodgkin amongst others have always inspired Julie. In particular she likes the way in which Klimt simplifies his form into geometric shapes and arranges them so beautifully.
