Greater Manchester Waste Group handles over 1.4 million tonnes of municipal solid waste every year and operates 4 Materials Recovery Facilities, 3 Transfer Loading Stations, a Thermal Recovery Facility and 25 Household Waste Recycling Centres throughout Greater Manchester. The Group also has refuse collection operations in Manchester and Stockport and collects materials at the kerbside from over 500,000 households in the Greater Manchester area. Greater Manchester Waste Group is committed to the recovery and recycling of waste and has a responsibility towards protection of the environment. The Group places an emphasis on education and awareness and has a dedicated visitors' centre, the "Waste Experience", near the Group's Head Office in Bolton, where groups can learn more about waste management and the environment.
